The Easy2Care program is a comprehensive, trauma-informed program that gives you practical strategies and tools that you can use the next day to improve your health and well-being. It covers 12 modules where each provides strategies for improving specific areas of health.

It focuses on practical steps that you can take to integrate healthy habits into your daily life. This program encourages you to engage with the online forum and stay in touch with the community as you work on making positive changes in your health and well-being.

Module 1: Introduction

Welcome to Easy2Care. First, we would like you to identify a trusted friend, family member, or colleague to support you while you go through this program. Someone you can talk to if emotions come up or thoughts you would like to process.

This fairly in-depth program touches on emotional, social, behavioral, and physical health determinants. Having a support person will give you the confidence and shared humanity to work on the modules with kindness.

Module 2: Titanic framework

Module 2 of Easy2Care centers on helping you build resilience and manage stress. Learn about the Titanic framework, a model that helps you manage your chronic pain and complements the pain management program you may be receiving.

There is also a self-assessment that helps you identify your current level of stress. It consists of six stages of self-care, which include stress management and practices for taking care of yourself.

Module 3: Social determinants of health

Module 3 of Easy2Care introduces the social determinants of health (SDOH) to increase awareness about the impact that social, economic, and environmental factors have on your health and well-being.

You will learn how these factors can cause health disparities and inequities and about the importance of considering them when promoting your health and well-being.

You will identify and define the SDOH in your own life and explore mindful practices in these areas. This includes learning about the impact of poverty, access to education, and living conditions on health and exploring ways to promote health and well-being while facing these challenges.

Module 4: internal compass

Module 4 of Easy2Care focuses on the concept of an “internal compass” and is designed to help you access and understand your own unique set of values and strengths. You will explore how your experiences, beliefs, and culture impact their health and well-being. You will determine three behaviors that align with your values, allowing you to live in a way that is consistent with your core beliefs and principles.

This can involve reflecting on what’s important to you, examining how your experiences and culture have shaped your beliefs and values, and taking steps to align your actions with your values to promote your health and well-being. This module helps you identify your why!

Module 5: teeter-tottering with lions

Module 5 of Easy2Care focuses on trauma-informed care, managing stress through a trauma-informed lens with the intent of providing you with an understanding of what it means to be stressed, and recognizing the stressors present in your life. You will learn to use practical tools and strategies for managing stress, including the use of “five weapons” to battle the “modern lions” or stressors in your life. Also, you will develop a deeper understanding of stress, recognize the sources of stress, and learn practical ways to manage and reduce stress to improve your health and well-being. This involves learning about stress management techniques, such as mindfulness, exercise, and relaxation, and applying these tools to manage your stress daily.

Module 6: Addiction

Module 6 of Easy2Care discusses various types of addictive behaviors and helps you identify common areas of addiction in your life and understand the connection between early life experiences and addiction.

Addiction is more of an “us” problem than a “them” problem. You will learn the impact of addiction on health and well-being and highlights the importance of addressing addiction as a public health issue.

You will understand the factors that contribute to addiction and to provide strategies for supporting yourself, including exploring one major strategy for addressing addiction.

This may involve learning about the causes and effects of addiction, recognizing addictive behaviors in your own life, and exploring evidence-based interventions for reducing the impact of addiction, such as behavioral therapy, medication-assisted treatment, and support groups.

Module 7: making sense of it all

Module 7 of Easy2Care discusses “pain and its perception through the different senses with a focus on interoception.” You will learn about the primary function of pain, how sensation and perception can affect pain, and manage your physical sensations that contribute to pain.

You will learn practical strategies for calming intense emotions or managing pain, which may involve learning about the role of interoception—which is the sense of internal bodily sensations—in regulating emotions, understanding the relationship between the senses and emotions, and exploring techniques for managing intense emotions or pain, such as mindfulness, deep breathing, and anchoring activities.

Module 8: medicine cabinet in the body

Module 8 of Easy2Care focuses on the “medicine cabinet in the body,” which refers to the powerful chemicals in our bodies that can help manage pain, stress, and other uncomfortable feelings.

You will learn about the four key chemicals—dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, and endorphins—and how you can harness them to improve your well-being.

Module 12: conclusion

The conclusion is where you reflect on your journey through the program and to practice the skills and strategies learned in previous modules.

This module summarizes the behavioral skills that you learned throughout Easy2Care and acknowledges that changes can be challenging and that it’s normal for some changes to take time.

You will stay engaged in the online forum and stay in touch with others who have taken the program since a sense of community and belonging can maintain new habits and behaviors.
